Cyrus Cassidy #45437 Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I grew up 1500 miles from the nearest coast, and have virtually no experience with water sports or boating. However, one thing I do know is that these guys are bona fide badasses. Look up "Coast Guard Alaska" on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. For those interested (and at ANY age!), the USCG has a volunteer service known as the Coast Guard Auxiliary. This is NOT the same as their Reservists, who are military members. On the contrary, Auxiliarists are volunteers. They get trained and certified to perform all of the duty positions that a regular Coastie would perform, except for law enforcement and military functions. Then they volunteer to go on missions with the active duty guys.
