Does your state have holidays that no one else celebrates?

I was just reading the whiteboard, which is a webcomic taking place in Alaska. And they threw out the term Seward's Day.

I go look it up. It is the last Monday in March. It commemorates the day that the treaty was signed where Alaska would be bought from Russia. Seward was a Secretary of the Treasury and fought for this to happen.

It said this should not be confused with Alaska Day. That takes place in October and commemorates when they actually turned it over to us.

Both of these are paid holidays in the state of Alaska.

So I had just got me wondering. Does Idaho have a holiday that nobody else does? Does California? Does Florida, for that matter.

I'm sure Texas has a few.

Utah has the 24th of July which is the date it became a state. That's he only one I know of, but it's never come up before.

They used to alternate celebrations, large one one year and a smaller one three weeks later, then reverse it the next year.  I seem to remember that we shared the parades with Ogden: one year the big one in Logan and a smaller one in Ogden the switch the following year.

I haven't lived there in 54 years and don't know if they even celebrate either one any more.

FWIW, Ogden used to have truly wonderful rodeo on the 4th through the 6th every year.  Logan's rodeo was much smaller, just one Saturday around the 24th, but a good place for kids to get in some show time and learn the ropes.

California used to have "Admission Day."  September 09, the day that the state became a state back in 1850.  california flag" Emoji - Download for free – Iconduck

Then, in 1984, Gov George Deukmejian scrapped it in favor of a "floating holiday" for state employees.

NH used to have Fast Day in April

We could have a Fast Day every day if we could just keep the Pennsylvanians out of the left lane.

Besides these, my company had facilities in Texas, California, and Louisiana.  Since no one in Louisiana was going to work on Mardi Gras they got that as a holiday, Texas and California also got an extra company holiday.  Texas used theirs for Presidents Day.  It was a little strange having that day off, but it was also nice because very few others were off and the parks weren't crowded.

July 24th, Pioneer Day. Still celebrated. I know, cause I went to the liquor store and it was closed!
