Specialized equipment at the Olympics.

The shooter on the left is right handed with a left eye dominance, so the glasses preventing her right eye from seeing the target makes sense

Ummmmm.  Don't think so.  Her left eye is not in line with the sights.  I believe her "patch" has a small aperture sort of like a peep sight to restrict her view to the sights.

Her right eye is looking through an adjustable iris. Think Hadley cup except that in this case instead of a series of fixed holes, it looks and functions exactly like a camera iris.  It can be adjusted to bring the pistol's front sight into sharp focus.

Good to see these two have brought a lot of attention to the shooting sports.

Absolutely!  Unfortunately on some forums I've seen negative comments like "That's not a real gun, I'd like to see her try to shoot my 454 Casull" or general rudeness around the equipment, personalities and technique.  We should all be happy anytime any form of shooting sports is  portrayed in a positive way

Bet she could outshoot those clowns with their own firearms with both eyes closed.

Personally,  I'd like to see those knuckle-dragging,  two brain cell idjits pick up her pistol and shoot that Olympic course of fire.   Bet none of them could break 20.

I doubt that I could,  and my knuckles don’t quite reach the ground…

(I DO exceed the two brain cell limit as well!)

I figure I could break 20 with a FWB 65 at 10 mts , used to shoot 85 +

I suspect that neither of you would have  spouted the , " That ain't a REAL gun!" nonsense.

A tidbit seen copied from the internet:

Dikec Yusuf, who only recently took up shooting after a particularly heated argument with his ex-wife, credits his success to his newfound passion for seeing his kids and a relentless drive to prove his ex wrong. "I never thought I'd be here," Yusuf said, shrugging nonchalantly. "I was just aiming for a weekend with the kids."

The 52-year-old, who works as a mechanic in a small garage in Istanbul, first picked up a gun during a particularly frustrating divorce mediation.

His unorthodox approach – no specialty gear, no training regimen, and a wardrobe consisting of his everyday jeans and a T-shirt – has baffled professional shooters. "He just shows up, shoots a near perfect round, and then asks if there's a smoking area nearby."

After winning silver, Yusuf stood emotionless on the Olympic podium and declared, "Sharon, if you're watching this, I want my dog back."

Almost total bogus report. He has been shooting in the Olympics for decades. He has multiple medals. The smoking question may be legit, I'm trying to find out honestly. He also likes cats.

Also hand in pocket is a legitimate formal stance, but dang he looks like he is just casually taking a squirrel from the back deck.

He is a rare shooter who shoots with both eyes open, no shield to obscure the non-dominant eye, and no optical "iris" setup on the dominant eye. He absolutely does train rigorously.

Converting to our freedom measurements, the target is basically a 6" circle at 15 yards and winning is based on less than the size of a dime off the bullseye at that distance. I'll try hitting a dime at that distance soon just for fun. I'll use my Ruger Mark IV 22/45.
