"Beneficiary" was actually what did me in, though starting with "Dear" raised my hackles.

 

Agree "was" is wrong in addition to it not agreeing with "have."

 

These scams are partly successful as the victim eventually realizes how bad the grammar was and does not want to admit being taken, it is just too embarrassing.

I had an email a few days ago. It finished with a name and address in Maine and a zipcode 224xx. Everybody know that Maine zip codes are 04xxx numbers, don’t they?  224xx should be somewhere like Virginia.

 

OK, confession, 50 years ago post office sent me a tape with all us zips,  in return for a paper I wrote for Office of Naval Research.

Just have it sent to The City of Ottawa Finance Dept.

 

They'll provide the details asked for, just to recover the $125,000.00 they KNOW they lost in a single payment!!
