Another Lever Gun hits the market

Recommended Posts

Obviously not SASS legal, but I do like the look of the tactical lever gun.  A lever action is an almost ideal platform for a suppressor.  Combined with an optic and light this would be a really slick pig rifle.

Well, the article that resulted from the Hyper-Link was an exercise in meaningless Verbosity.  Pretty much all it says, It's a nice looking rifle.  Diddley Squat about anything else.  Looking at the magazine loading gate and the ejection port, I'm going to guess it is intended to be Expanded to much longer cartridges.  Looking at the ejection port, without being able to take the thing apart, it looks an awful lot like a Henry Big Boy, with the fully captive enclosed round bolt, which is actually a kinda copy of a Marlin action.  Obviously not intended for the CAS crowd (good thing) but does appear to be quite suitable for close up Pig Shooting.  Can't say I like it at all, but my Opine is just that, My Opine.  PASS

We just got one in the LGS. Really well built, operates smoothly. I am an admitted S&W snob but it is a viable hunting/general purpose gun.

They also priced them like The Silliness was in full swing.

Looking forward to the price drops when powder is scarce.

I seriously doubt they will drop the price.  More likely they will simply discontinue them with a brief statement about there being no market for it.

I am so not interested.
Lessons have been learned by Marlin and Ruger, over many years of lever gun design and manufacture.
It seems to me, that S&W has not yet put in the mileage to learn those lessons.
All they offer is a high price.

I look at S&W same as a Chevy pickup.
By far the most handsome of competitors, but I won't own one.
I don't give a damn what it looks like... for me, function beats form every time.

We’ll see. You may be right.

Maybe like the Silverado. As for a plain ol' C10, that's why I have a bunch of Taurus revolvers.

wow... that's a premium price / is it patterned after the Marlin?

Yeah, it really does look like a Marlin pattern gun. With many states now offering Straightwall cartridge seasons, I think we will see a resurgence in levergun popularity. In this area of Arkansas it is rare for a hunter to have a shot at even 200 yards. So the ranges are very accommodating to the blunt nose bullets for cartridges that these guns are built around.
