Just had a nasty email threatening me if I don't send them $1950!. Got a call this morning from an alleged cable outfit, asking for some money to reduce my monthly bills. My dog was choking on something, and I didn't have time to screw with the caller, but stupidly gave him my credit card number. The bank caught this and declined it, and cancelled the card. Then this same individual called me twice, and shortly after I hung up on him, got an email with the above threat. The scary thing is they had my address and even a photo of the house!  Called the local gandarmes and they said this thing is going around and to ignore it. Don't answer or anything. Was tempted to reply by email that if they came to collect, they might be paid in lead! But I didn't.

Had my eBay account "permanently suspended" today! It's the third time in a month. The other 2 were "temp suspensions".

After a long time in the phone, they got me back in. I went to my account and my email was changed to my wife's and my address was changed from VT to Missouri City, TX. They had no explanation except that there's been a lot of it lately.

The last 2 password changes were 25 characters with symbols etc.

I've now set up 2 tier authorization. These aholes really need to be taken out. But then again we're likely importing them now.

Every few days, I get something saying my bank or PayPal or other payer has been charged (or approved for) hundreds for a virus checker or new cell service or something,

A quick check of the actual payment service shows no such charge. A careful inspection of the email or text shows a web link which is not my bank or PayPal or other payment service.

There is usually a phone number to call in the communication. This number is either in a database of known spam callers or some other source, but is never the actual service.

Worth checking (PITA) to make sure, every few years there is some actual fraud which hits a card or the bank, reporting it as soon as possible is a good thing.

Go directly to paypal.com (or other payment service) or your bank yourself, never from the provided link in the communication. Never use the phone number in the communication, look on the back of your card or at your bank statement and call the number there.

Don't trust, just verify.

I was thinking about using phrases translated from Serbian,  but I  always was told I needed  to include at least one vowel.

Translated from Serbian should have a vowel or two. Into Serbian might not….
