Peacemaker Specialists.  My understanding is that they are still running the business since Eddie passed on.  Someone may have recent contact info.

Thanks to one and all. The pistol is one I got used from someone so not sure the lifetime warranty applies to the original buyer or to the gun, and I have never heard of a lifetime warranty on any Colt, so I will have to check the Colt site and the manuals of my new King Cobra and Python. Thanks for suggesting Peacemaker too I had forgotten about them.

I have never heard of Colt having a lifetime warranty.  This is off the Colt website.

Colt does not offer an express warranty, but acknowledges implied Magnuson-Moss Act obligations. Colt products will be serviced for defects in original factory materials or workmanship to the original purchaser at no charge for one year from the date of retail purchase. Cosmetic blemishes and damage from normal wear and tear, abuse, neglect, improper ammunition, or to finishes/coatings are excluded. Be sure to retain your sales slip as proof of original purchaser and purchase date when making a claim. For service information, visit our Service page.

A few years ago, the cross pin screw thing that holds the cylinder pin in place on my Dad's 3rd Gen Colt fell out.  I found the pin, but not the screw thing.   On my way home to the Boston area from the Delaware/Maryland region, I stopped at the Colt plant and asked them if they could fix it.   They said yes. but they'd have to look at it to determine what was wrong and would contact me with any charges.

A couple of weeks passed, and the pistol showed up at my door.  Not only was this problem repaired, but one of the notches on the hammer was broken, so they replaced that as well.  Total cost was $0.00 as it was all covered under the "lifetime warranty."  Or at least, that's what they told me.  Ever since then, when ever I have a problem with an SAA or a 1911, that's the first place I go.   I recall reading that, other than other things that are still in production, they can only work on 2nd or 3rd Gen SAA's and "most" 1911's.

Take it with a grain of salt.  :)

For what it's worth, I did have an action job done to a 2nd Gen SAA (An NRA Centennial Commemorative) and while that was not covered, the cost was remarkably reasonable, in my opinion.

Ok, I have heard that Colt will re-roll the original markings on a 1911 as well when you get one that has seen a lot of action as US Property, but then I also heard that they were backed up and it would take 1 to 2 years to get anything back from them. Never been to the plant/offices and now that I recall I did see where I believe they turned over their parts department to either Midway or Brownell but I could be having a Joe Biden senior moment. But if you are saying that they repair it for free, with replacing the parts and service at no charge, then I am all in!  Do I contact the service department first?

I don't consider a hand in a single action to be a drop in part. Likely a new part would need fitted.  What's wrong with the old one? They can be repaired or adjusted.   Here is a Pietta hand that I lengthen to adjust timing.

I ordered a part about a year and a half ago from Eddie's wife who seemed pretty knowledgeable about parts. Shipping was quick!
