Cottonmouth Mark Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Well here's a Q out there. I know Henrys are not optimum SASS guns, and don;t need it to be, have a 1873 that does me well for that. But I did see an exclusive offer in the CB Chronicle for a SASS unique Henry where they will SN it with your SASS #. Thinking of getting one just for fun. Thoughts? https://www.henryusa.com/sass/
Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 I saw that as well. Gun looks nice. My Henry Golden Boy is well made and shoots nicely. My only problem with any commemorative or collectible type firearm is if I own it, I shoot it. Thus destroying any extra value it may have. I don’t own anything that I haven’t shot so would not be in my future. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want one, just not a good purchase for me. YMMV Regards Gateway Kid
Cottonmouth Mark Posted July 7, 2024 Author Posted July 7, 2024 Well I plan to shoot it. I have a niece and nephew who enjoy shooting and are already arguing over who gets my 73 when I die or quit shooting. Figured this might be a nice way to settle the argument.
Phantom, SASS #54973 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 In no time...that special S/N will mean nothing. Phantom
Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 many years back , I made the call I ain't got a truck I won't drive , a gun I won't shoot or a reel I won't fish with I don't care for dust collectors CB

So if you want to get a limited edition with your SASS number on it, you're paying $225ish dollars for that. Now...if SASS would reposition itself...starting with a new logo (the angry elf is kinda dated), it might be more attractive. Phantom PS: The numbers are fact, the logo comments are opinion.
Texas Jack Black Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Looks like a pot metal rifle like we had as kids. Never liked the looks of most of their guns. Best Wishes
X Mark Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Henry is a great supporter of CAS ! If you want one ,go buy it ! Tell the kids to save their money and buy their own guns ! The golden boy that I have is a well made rifle. I'm sure that the ones offered with your SASS number are also well made guns. I concur with several of the writers here about guns ----safe queens are nice ,but I like to shoot everything I own !
Warden Callaway Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 My son wanted a Marlin 1894 Cowboy in 45 Colt. But our best gunshop didn't have any. They did have the Big Boy. He bought it. I think he had buyers remorse and gave it to his wife when he got home. He started working on me to get my Marlin away from me. I managed to wrangle it from me on his next visit. I took the one piece firing pin out and returned it to civilian configuration.
