Hoss
Summertime shooting in S Texas is not for the faint of heart! With I left the range today my truck thermometer read 108. I don’t know that it’s super-accurate, but I was sho-nuff hot! Fortunately we got done shooting at 1140, so beat the afternoon heat. I drink a bottle of Gatorade before match, and a bottle of water every stage. Gotta stay hydrated!!! I love this game, and am going to keep shooting, but I’ll be glad when fall arrives. 3
Cheyenne Ranger, 48747L
I'm up the road a piece in Cypress TX, think Houston the last match was only 99° at noon. someone's weather app said the heat index is 105° we have shade (buildings and awnings in front) and at least 2 fans per stage running off a generator I'm drinking a Gatorade ahead of the match and then one per stage--since I'm an old fart they let me sit and scorekeep hardest thing is getting the range cleaned and locked up and loading the truck at the end (club officer so I have duties at the end) so far we've been OK but do have an EMS plan and 3 of us are former EMTs. happy to say most members will just 'call it a day' rather than gutting it out till the bitter end. as Gen Phil Sheridan said, "If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell." 1
paradiddle
I was in Vegas Monday for work. Car said 117!! I'm in Palm Springs this weekend - 110. But I'm sitting in the pool so it's a little bearable. Shooting in this weather would be rough...in jeans, boots, a hat, longsleeve shirt, etc. etc.

Matthew Duncan
You know what normal people call this period of “climate change”? Summer.
Go West
High humidity is difficult for me, I just can't get cool. I used to deal with it, but every year seems to bother me more and more. Cool rags dipped in ice water provide temporary relief and if it's really bad, I've put ice cubes under my hat.
Blackwater 53393
I generally roll up my sleeves when I get dressed. I don’t like the heat in the first place and most shirts don’t have long enough sleeves for my ape arms. If I buy a shirt that has sleeves that are long enough, I can use it for a tent! It’s the same reason that I don’t wear suits! They have to be tailored to fit correctly and comfortably. When it’s really hot, I’ve been known to pour a bottle of water over my head and down my back. I’ll keep a wet cloth around my neck, sometimes even when I’m shooting! I often roll ice up in that cloth between stages! If I get too hot, I’ll just go where it’s cool! It’s a lot of work and trouble for people to have to pick my big a$$ up if I fall over!! Edited June 30 by Blackwater 53393
BenW
I don't do well with the heat and humidity of Coastal NC in the summer. I use Propel in my water bottles to stay hydrated and restore electrolytes. It works very well for me and I'd recommend anyone to try it over plain water. YMMV.
Trailrider #896
I heard a report that the Devil was seen leaving Arizona sittin' on a block of ice, headin' fer home! Denver recorded 100 deg. F at Denver International, but we cooled down a bit, and it was even 75 yesterday. Warmer today. Too hot for me to go shooting, plus I've got arthritis in my right shoulder to the point where I doubt I'll ever be able to handle a 12 gage anymore. Maybe from the hip this fall... Jackson Haller
Some Las Vegas clubs call it quits for the summers here; it doesn't cool off at night so there's no 'beating the heat' by starting early. It got above 90 by end of April and won't get below that till maybe October. We're running around 110 right now and haven't hit the hottest time of the year yet. Summer here is like winter in northern states; just stay inside as much as possible, clean/repair gear, load ammo and wait for late fall...
Mossy Horn Gent
Gonna be 120 degrees plus this weekend. Still 100 plus degrees at midnight.
Red Oak
Saying it’s hot in Texas is like saying water is wet. Not sure where I heard that, but so true this time of year. When we lived in Southern California (Antelope Valley) it got very hot but the humidity was much lower. Lower humidity makes the heat a little more tolerable for me, but you still have to remain hydrated. We use Propell and Body Armor drinks to help, really makes a difference.
