Blackwater 53393
John and his team are the prime movers behind the safety standards and safety initiatives in Nitro Funny Car construction. Â It stood him in good stead yesterday!! Â The rest of the sport owes him and his people a huge debt!! 4

Blackwater 53393
Most recent update 6-30-24!  Sometime yesterday afternoon or early this morning Force was able to say his name when prompted, make a thumbs up gesture when asked to do so, and is trying to get out of his hospital bed!  Later, he was able to recognize his wife and daughters and call each one by name!  He also reminded everyone that he IS a sixteen time Funny Car World Champion.  His attending medical staff are describing him as “a raging bull”!!  I’ve met the man on two separate occasions. Once at an NHRA points meet in Gulfport, Mississippi where he was there in support of his sponsors, (something he has ALWAYS done better than anyone) and their Top Alcohol Dragster at the time.  They hit a big bump just at the finish line and cracked their oil pan.  We, (my team) had a welder in our rig and we helped them make repairs.  A couple of years later, I was at a big racing trade show in Indianapolis representing one of the companies that sponsored our team and that we did R&D for.  On my way to our booth, early one morning, I literally ran into John who was walking in the opposite direction, again working with his sponsors!!  We bounced off of each other and he looked up, spread that big grin of his all over his face, grabbed my hand and shook it vigorously, and said, “Why, hello Tommy! How ya’ doin’??  What are ya’ doin’ here?”  I was shocked that he remembered me, much less called me by name!!  I explained that I was there helping out one of our sponsors and he slapped me on the back and said that that’s what racers do!!  The show was about to open for the day and we both had some place to be, so he wished me well and headed for his booth and I did the same.  Later, one the reps from a mutual sponsor told me that Force seldom forgets anyone who’s done him a favor and that he was the best representative any sponsor could hope to have!!  I like that he is always up front about anything he does.  If he opens his mouth, the truth comes out!  Get Well Soon, Pard!!   Edited July 1 by Blackwater 53393 1
