A Sign of the Times

Was over at my local Sportsman's Warehouse a couple of days ago and they were removing some gun racks and putting up shelves.   I asked what they were doing and was told they have been losing thousands of dollars in ammunition every month.  So they were having to move the premium ammunition behind the counter to help cut down on theft.  Like pretty much every other retailer in the country they are not allowed to confront criminals.  Hell you go to Walgreens or CVS and at least half the merchandise is in locked cases.  It is a sad thing that if a shop owner defends their property it is the owners that are going to jail and not the thieves.

I just got back from my local Cabelas and they put all the ammunition into a U shaped island.  Only one way in or out.  I did pick up some Remington #10 caps.

Should just move it all up to where the bargain cave is now... & rename it "GoldMine" instead....

At some grocery stores here they have shampoo locked up.  Depends on the neighborhood.

Barbisol shaving cream was behind the counter at Walmart, razors need a key to unlock the case (waiting for an escort to the register next)...lol

Local Walmart had the mens underwear locked up.

Same here, but "boulder holders/sling shots" were still free range...lol

What was the price?

Been to Home Depot lately, everything is locked up, maybe not the shovels they would have to work with them. Yes they walk you to the register.

I guess that's the new way when you can steal up to a $1,000 and not be put in the slamer. We're paying for it.

It's sad.

One political part calls that "progress."  :(

That's just ignorant.  This has nothing to do with politics, and nobody thinks making it harder, and more labor intensive, to run a business is progress.

 This is only the beginning.

Plan ahead and keep large supplies on hand .

Nov. will be Chaotic no matter who wins. IMHO

Many places I shop have the ammo out of reach. CAL Ranch is a biggie. I think they get tired of folks opening the boxes and ruining the flaps. Sportsman's Warehouse is one of the few chains that still has it out for all to touch.

If you don't want someone to get your goat, don't tell them where it's tied.

It has EVERYTHING to do with politics!!  Especially the new “progressive” politics!!  When the politicians that infest the legal system refuse to prosecute those who steal and retail companies are forced by insurance companies to prevent their employees from taking measures to prevent theft, while those same politicians cut spending and attack law enforcement, it’s for damned sure political!!

You know what they say.  What starts in California eventually spreads throughout the country.

Good advice.  I generally don't engage with folks' arbitrary political commentary, but I was in a mood this morning.

I think Marauder meant “progressive policies “you know like under $1000 and no jail, also cashless bail etc. These are progressive liberal policies which is not progress at all!
