Lead Monger
Picked up a brick of Federal LP primers at Sportsman’s Wearhouse for less than $90.00. Looking at the stock of powder in the case and noting prices I see 30 to 45 bucks for most of what they have. Then i see a 1# bottle of 3031 for 69.99 and I’m just baffled. 1
Colorado Coffinmaker
Simple "Supply and Demand." Supplies of Nitrocellulose based smokeless powders are in short supply. So suppliers and retailers "Demand" more for product. Simple actually. We must always remember, retailers aren't in business to do us consumers any favors. They are in business to make as much MONEY as they can. Take yer Broker to Lunch. Tom Bullweed
I saw Winchester Small Pistols primers at a local big box sporting good store: $8.99/100 and $39.99/1000. These were new Win primers, not old stock, and yep, they came home with me. 1

You didn't tell them about their mistake?
Scarlett
I saw some Accurate 5744 in Scheels in North Dakota this past week. $74.99/pound. It is similar to the Buffalo Rifle (shooters world). I haven’t had Buffalo Rifle for a while. The owners of SW told me that it’s BIG in military ammunition (wars). I would imagine that some powders require a great deal more nitrocellulose than others - which leases to the prices. At Sheela, I saw powder from $35-$75. Hugs!

Cinch
What is baffling is the manufacture of powder and primers. When everyone is looking for some formula they are making some random stuff. When folks need large or small pistol primers, they do a run of small pistol magnums for all of those small magnum pistols out there. It’s almost a ploy to drive prices and it has worked. Nothing will ever return to what it was. The D’s pandemic release and inflation have made sure of that.
