Tang sight Beretta Renegade

Recommended Posts

Pards-I recently picked up a Beretta Renegade in 45lc  As you know, it is a rebadged Uberti 1873  My question is, what tang sight can I fit on it without drilling a hole?  There is one screw hole on the tang and I dont wish to mar the rifle

With thanks in advance

You need to post a photo so we can see what hole you are talking about.  If you are talking about a plugged hole in front of the tang screw you remove that and the sight usually comes with a longer tang screw.

With only one screw the sight will twist around and be useless.   It needs two holes

Duct tape? :P

I beg to differ.  Without the insert, the opening is approximately .2 inches (5mm).  At our distances, with the rifle shouldered, the eye will naturally center thru the opening, put the front sight on the target, break the shot and move on.  Little or no trouble finding the next target because the ring is almost out or view..

That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Howdy Chancy (and others),

I have tried both. I started with a tang sight based on the "logic" you espouse. Then, after some advise by a top shooter I went to the barrel sight. With the distances we shoot rifle targets, I believe that I only use the front sight. I bet if you lay the tang sight down and shoot a stage you won't notice the difference except that you might be a little faster.

That's MY story.

Both my Marlins have a rear sight that folds down. I often fold it down when shooting, makes it easier to find the next target.

I will have to admit that at May's monthly shoot at the Illowa Irregulars, the sight fell off while moving from one stage to another.  I shot four stages without it and had no rifle misses, so your point is well taken.  It was recovered by another cowboy and I put it back on.
