The Cumberland Kid Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Interested if anyone has used these. It would be a great deal if they’re comparable to Federals.
Preacherman Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Quick research has good reviews. Powder Valley has them as well, and Ammo Seek. They are cheaper there.
Blackwater 53393 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 It looks like large pistol primers have ‘bout dried up! Anyone seeing them??
Eyesa Horg Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Picked up a brick of Federals for $90 at Tri-State this weekend!
Bailey Creek,5759 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I see Large Pistol Primers from Remington at Scheels for $80.00. So far all have went bang.
Dacotua Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 https://tundramichigan.com/products/small-pistol-primers-9-mm-boxer-type-5-3-cents-1000-pcs-no-credit-card-fees-we-pay-hazmat-fees Another alternative "no name" brand of Small Pistol Primers. I know people who have used these, they work.
J-BAR #18287 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I have used Servicios Aventuras small pistol primers. They are just a smidgeon larger than American made primers, which can make them difficult to seat all the way down into the primer pocket. This can result in failure to ignite on the first hammer strike, especially when being used in guns with reduced strength hammer springs. I had about 2% to 3% failure in my factory original S&W double action revolvers. I found that by chamfering the upper edge of primer seating stud on my Dillon 550, I could force the primers deeper into the pocket and improve reliability. That is a good price on primers these days. If you are sure that you can get them seated completely, you might buy some for practice loads until you are sure you can trust them in a match. You will find discussions about them on other gun boards.
