Horace Patootie, SASS #35798 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I have an 1886 Winchester in 45/70 which was made IIRC in 1897. It has been reblued at some point so not a real collector item. It appears to function fine but I'm thinking about having it restored to an original type finish on metal and wood. Who does this kind of work that you know of; especially if you have had such work done before? Horace
The Rainmaker, SASS #11631 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 If you really want to do it right, you need Doug Turnbull. https://www.turnbullrestoration.com/

Boggus Deal #64218 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I believe Doug got pushed out of Turnbull’s by his son a while back. He may be out on his own again.
Indy Kid, SASS #4638 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 This my '86 that Turnbull did the metal finishing on. I am very pleased with the results. Indy
