Wanted to drop a line and let everyone know about the New “Competition Line” of match pistols coming out. I’ve been working hand in hand with Pietta for a few years to bring an “out of the box” pair of match guns featuring octagon barrels, brass front sights, widen rear sight notch, gunfighter grips, Low wide hammers, completely beveled edges, fully turned and short stroked. These will be a one stop shop match ready gun for SASS and the Single Action world. These are the 1st in a series of many different models to come in the near future . The below model should be out around mid to late summer and will be offered in the two popular calibers of 38/357 & 45Colt. I will have more information including MSRP to come as it’s provided to me from Pietta.
I will have exclusive rights to the distribution of the “Competition Series Line”, so fill free to contact me via PM if interested.
Here’s to many fun filled matches, so in the meantime keep your powder dry.
(Please feel free to share )

Slick, did the rule change on dovetail front sights? As of the latest rule book, they were only allowed on opentops and cap and ball revolvers.

That last sentence says that a dovetail sight means these are considered "Adjustable sight revolvers" and they are only legal for the age based categories and B-Western if I read the rule book right.

I was surprised that they aren't even Duelist or Gunfighter legal!

Beautiful!

Well Slick did say "1st in the series of many different models" so I wouldn't get too worried.

Good morning, in reference to your question, I have submitted clarification to the committee. But what I do know on the pistol is the sight notch is cut straight all the way across the width of the barrel. The brass sight is machine pressed in the sight notch which will allow it to NOT be adjustable.

Since these are not in Full production this can be changed if the powers that be seem to agree it’s needed.

Yours look very nice .

They are similar, the new custom shop guns on the Competition line will also have widened rear sights, brass front sight, beveled cylinder.. muzzle.. and ejector rod housing , longer cut cylinder stop leads, slim gunfighter grips and factory tuning with short stroke.

Being that  I’m considering a trip to the dark side, a pair of these in 44-40 (if/when  Available!) might be in my future!!!

Hey Slick!!

Very very NICE.  I recently acquired a nice pair of "El Malo II."  Out of the box, the best action I have ever seen on a stock gun.  The "new" Main Spring from Pietta is just super.  Looking forward.  The El Malo II did need a slightly longer Firing Pin.

Hey Slick..... remember me?    Your BEST friend up here in TN..... 'Uncle Widder'.....

I might have to get me a pair of these in .45 Colt.    And I don't even shoot .45's............... but I could learn.  ;)

MSRP will be out shortly, Pietta is currently still working on it. I just wanted to put out the information to get everybody thinking on them.

Hopefully the short stroke has been improved compared to the Eliminators.

Yes, they have been improved with better springs and internal parts. I personally have the prototype pair and have ran thousands of rounds with no issues.

But as with any product, there will probably be a some over the next few years that slip past quality control. It just happens when operating on such a large scale.

I have a pair of El Malo II as well. I don’t have much to compare to as they are my first and only revolvers but I love em. I like the army-sized grips and wide/lower hammer. They run pretty smooth out of the box and haven’t had any issues with them.

The Eliminators were Pietta's first attempt at a short stroke.  I expect they learned from that.

The first offering by Cimarron came out with great fanfare some 8 years ago.

As I remember, some got them and loved them. Others returned there's for repair or refund.  They soon disappeared from the catalog and web site.  I found one at local gun shop sold as new traid in. Price was too attractive to pass up. It had lots of problems.  I'm guessing it was something used at trade shows.  I tried to get another but couldn't.  A good bit later I come to know they had a small inventory.  I had my best gunshop guy order it.  Not so much wrong with it other than too light a hammer spring.

Hey, I know that guy.  Too bad both those products ended up not doing so well.  The shotgun could have been fantastic but there was too much variation in their hand fitting.

Pietta spring out of Eliminator 8 on right. Stock Pietta spring on left.  Reduced power, probably Wolff for Uberti in center.
