Memorial Match for Lone Spur Jake

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Whiskey Row Gunslingers held a memorial match for my long time shooting pard Lone Spur Jake who passed on April 29, 2024. Nice turn out, all of the stages were written with start lines form the favorite things Jake said. He was known for always shooting clean. (well about 99.9% of the time).

Here is a photo of the shooters that came out and a short video of the gun salute for him. Thanks Darla from ACSA for the photo and video.

I just came across this post and want to thank you ALL for showing the love for my long time friend Bob Guerrero A.K.A, "Lone Spur Jake".

A little history about how I met Bob.......

A long time ago, I believe in the late 80's or very early 90's when I lived in the Seattle area, there was a gun shop in the Bellevue, WA area called Wade's Guns and Bob was working at the counter and we became acquainted.  I frequented the gun shop and one day I noticed that Bob was no longer working at the shop.

The guys who worked told me that Bob had moved south, but they did not have a phone number for him and Bob did not own a cell phone at that time.....so I lost touch.

In 2016 my wife and I left Washington State and moved to Prescott, AZ and I began to browse the local gun shops.

I walked into High Country Guns one day and guess who was there working at the counter....my old friend BOB!!!!

I visited the shop many times and we moved from Prescott up to Salmon, ID in 2022 but this time I had Bob's cell phone number so we kept in touch.

He had retired from working at the gun shop and was making trips up north to visit kids and grandkids.

I would give Bob a call every couple of months to check in and spoke with him about two weeks before his passing, which I did not learn about until I tried to reach him in June to say hello only to find his cell phone was disconnected so I knew something way amiss.

Anyway thanks again for the memorial shoot!!!

God speed old friend, you will be missed!!!
