Some more annoying terms

I just saw an article. The title

Mount a Red Dot on your wheelie with ease

Now, if I ever had had any thought of putting a red dot on a revolver, that would have changed my mind.

A wheelie?

But that got me thinking about all the stupid things I see people call revolvers on the internet.

For years they have been called a wheel gun, and I have absolutely no problem with someone talking about their wheel gun. But I see people talking about their wheel.

And then we have Revo. "Bought a new Revo yesterday." "Took my Revo out and had some fun at the range."

Is the entire world made up of babies that don't know how to speak? Or is it only people that don't know how to type? Revolver being such a long word, their fingers will get tired, so they shorten it to revo.

Our language is being destroyed by people to lazy to type out the full word or trying to be cute.

Probably brought about by testing and maybe Twitter with it's character limit.  Texting before smartphones was even worse than now.

If only our language were this easy.

No disrespect to our pards down under but they shorten everything.  I have to get my sister and BIL to reset their brains every time they come back to the states to visit.  Can't understand them otherwise.

Brings to mind those folks who refer to SHOTGUNS as "shotties"...a bit too cutesy, IMO.

Agree.

Wonder why they don't say "rifey" and "pisty".

And by autocorrect that can’t tell the difference between two, too, and to…

(I’m blaming autocorrect because I’m sure you typed “people too lazy” and it “corrected” you.)

Both terms grate my nerves, especially if it’s a grown man saying it. Kids doing it, I can understand, but a 35-40 year old? No!

I was at an indoor range / gun store about 2 months ago and this guy, probably late 30’s, was asking about shooting in the range about shooting there and he says “So, I have a couple of Sogs and a .357 Revo. Are these okay to shoot here?”

”Yes”

”How about Shottie’s are they okay?”

The clerk kind of rolled his eyes and says “Around here they’re revolvers and shotguns. Not cutesie bull**** names…and no, SHOTGUNS aren’t allowed. Our range isn’t set up for those.”

I walked away at that point but later on I told the clerk that had been talking to the ‘dude’ that I appreciated him saying what he said to that guy.

After the match yesterday we stopped at a deli for some lunch. The young clerk at the register said he liked my "fit"! I thanked him anyway and then told him what it was all about. Surprisingly, he asked if we shot single actions.:) The guy that delivered our food said he liked our outfits. I liked that better.;)

A few years ago while working part time at the local gun shop/range a couple guys asked for “slugs”. I asked 12 or 20 gauge? They said No 9mm!!! I took a bag of 9mm bullets out and put them on the counter and asked is thus what you want? They didn’t know what to say. I said if you want loaded ammunition ask for it. Learn how to speak in proper terms here. They left! Bye!!

When the powers that be decided that "irregardless" was acceptable and added it to their dictionaries I put the horse out to pasture.

Most of our kind just grunt and use words I don't understand when trying to communicate.
