When we drove out the van temperature said 105.

We shot 1 stage and knew we wouldn’t make it! Called it a day. I estimate heat stroke in 1 or 2 more stages. Didn’t want to find out for sure!

I made it thru but the hottest I've ever shot in.  Or maybe getting older and just seems like it. Several passed out and I know at least one went to hospital, ambulances came twice.  Dang global warming. Whew!

Shot the second wave today. This was what the thermometer at my camper showed at 5:30 PM. The exterior sensor is located under my camper and never in direct sunlight.

When I left at 5:30 my phone said it was 98 in Lockhart and heat index 111.  Tomorrow I'm bringing freezer packs - I wrap one in a cotton bandana and stick in under my shotgun belt in back.  Did it a couple years ago but not last summer.  I think it helps a little bit; my theory is it cools the blood going through a kidney.

Last time it was this hot my turkeys froze to death.  Corn popped in the field, them dumb ole turkeys thought it was snow and froze!!! 
 

seriously, it was hot. I shot the afternoon wave, stages 6-10, which is generally the “hot” end, not much shade. I drank 1 large bottle of Gatorade 7 bottles of water, 1 bottle of electrolyte infused water. Should be better this morning!
