Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L
It's A Conspiracy I Tell Ya, A Conspiracy! Been working my butt off (not that I have much to begin with as I suffer from NoAssAtAll!) trying to get everything done so I could leisurely pack the car this evening when it cooled off a bit. Child No 1 - Dad, the master cylinder blew out in my car, do you have a spare car I can borrow while you are gone? Sure, of course, I just need to finish the repair I was working on...... Child No 2 - Dad, I need to come by and use your tools to fix something. Do you mind if I bring the baby? Maybe Mom can watch her while I work. Sure, of course, I will just have to do all of the schlepping myself and pray I don't forget anything important.... Both are good kids, but Dang! It will be a later night than I planned before we are ready, but a double coffee at 0'Dark Hundred will "hopefully" still get us there tomorrow in time to register. I think maybe I will just (accidentally) leave my cell phone at home... Anybody know how many stages are in the Warm-Up match? I want to make sure we have enough but not exceed the load limit of the Prius. It's powered by 3 Hamsters and a Squirrel and I think the squirrel died when we hit 140K miles... Tell Sackett SASS 18436
If anyone at the shoot reads this could you pass on some information? To whoever wants it. First, my apologies for not being there if anyone was looking for me. I got into Manchester extremely late last night and was unable to find my rental after 2 hours of searching. Very long story, but the stupidity of the owner combined with my temper lead me to turn around and drive back home. So no primers at Black Gold. But I WILL be at Ambush at Cavern Cove! Followed by Land Run. Most likely my final vending efforts. I’m retiring from it.
Tn Tombstone
I will pass that along, sorry you had trouble finding your rental.
Blackwater 53393
We had a great meet and great at our traditional first rendezvous at Pat’s Snack Bar last night. The place was ROCKIN’!! It has cooled off considerably in the last day or so and we had a big thunderstorm earlier this morning. Folks are streaming in from everywhere and it’s gonna be a great time! Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L
Holli and I made it down on Wednesday, just as registration was closing, but we managed to get our cart excavated out of the car, built, and under cover, just as the skies opened up for a short, but intense rain storm. Headed off the the Hotel in London, KY, got settled in and crashed early after a long day. The Prius did its job, but it was quite the journey with that little car packed to the hilt and loaded to the max. Surprisingly, it did manage to maintain the 70mph average highway speeds through the mountains. Of course it was 60mph UP hill and 80mph DOWN hill, but the average was 70mph.. On Thursday we got registered, bought a couple raffle tickets, and Holli and I took the opportunity to retake the RO1 course again as a refresher. I encourage everyone to either take, or retake, the course when the opportunity presents itself. I do my best to keep up with changes to the Shooters Handbook, but I learned things I didn’t know, that I probably should have known. Thanks to Tennessee Tombstone for teaching a great course! We wandered around for the rest of the afternoon, made a brief shopping run through Manchester, then back to the range to chill until dinner. Joined a bunch of folks at the El Dorado Mexican restaurant for dinner, but decided to just head back to the hotel after dinner instead of back to the range so we could turn in early and get a good start this morning. Breakfast is done, now off to the range for Day 1 of Black Gold! BTW: Does anyone know what they used to pull out of the old mine on the property?

I never heard of anybody mining for oil either, so I didn't know what to think. Coal...where is that facepalm emoji when I need it. Funny, I know PA as coal country, as well as West Virginia, but for some reason I never think about Kentucky that way. Should have been obvious, it shares the same mountain range and topography, so it is no surprise I guess. Learn something new every day!
Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L
Day 1 is in the books. Shot the upper bays today. Posse 8 is Great! Cleaned our guns on our final bay and have everything set for tomorrow. We hung around for a bit, got a taste of Tennessee Tombstones homemade ice cream. The went back to the hotel to shower. Had intended to come back for the music, but Holli is done in. Her bad knee has been acting up so we decided to save what she has left for the match tomorrow. Hope everyone else enjoys the show. Should be a rootin' tootin' good time! 1

Blackwater 53393
What Seamus said!!^^^^^^ Black Gold is in the books!! I’m sure Cat A Tonic will have the scores on the Ponderosa Pines website soon! Great shooting! Fast, simple stages with lots of latitude for improvisation and some fun to go with the action! Pot luck on Friday night was excellent, even Fire ‘N’ Fallback’ squirrel!! So many great folks and fun times! The side matches were well attended and everyone had a “blast”! The traditional fish fry on Saturday night was outstanding as usual and there was barbecue for those that didn’t want fish, baked beans, green beans, and coleslaw to go with it. Various desserts were provided from the annual dessert contest. There was also a beverage and an appetizer contest!! Entertainmen for Friday and Saturday nights was great and the party was still going on well after midnight!! SO!!! Thanks again to Daddy Boots and Miss Rose for giving us a place to throw this party!! THANKS TO COPPERHEAD AND CAT FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN!! Thanks to all those folks like Tennessee Tombstone, Miz Pete, Rio Drifter and Tennessee Tall, and all the others behind the scene that, year after year, work so hard to make it happen!! Congratulations to all the shooters who won and placed and to the folks who made it here to join the fun!! Now that ya’s know where the fun is, please come back next year and help us make it even better! p.s. The desserts in the contest this year were delicious, but there were, (in the opinion of many of us) far too few entries!! SO!! For next year, I’m throwing down the gauntlet!! I’m gonna bring back one or two varieties of my prize winning brownies, (they took both first and second place in this contest the last time I entered) and I’ll post a bounty on myself, (prize to be determined) to the winner if it ain’t me!! Sixgun Seamus
Don't forget to mention the mechanical bull. Those brave enough to give it a whirl were entered into a drawing for a free entry to Black Gold next year. Even that no good ornery cripple, Stone Creek Drifter, rode the bull and won the free entry. Blackwater 53393
Sad news to report! Mis Rose, Copperhead’s mother has passed. She and Boots are the reason that we have such a great venue at which to get together with some of the finest people in CAS!! She was a gracious hostess and a wonderful lady to just sit and talk with, always fun and a true matriarch! I, for one, will miss her greatly! I think we all send our deepest sympathies and best wishes for Daddy Boots and Copperhead and Cat and the Jarvis family at this time. Prayers Up! 4 2

doc roy l. pain
Got the news early this morning. Sad indeed. Prayers go out to the whole Jarvis family. Something like this always reminds me that as much as we enjoy this game we call cowboy action, the most important thing about it is all the friends it has brought into our lives. 1

Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L
I heard this sad news the day Holli and I returned home from the match and I just didn't know what to say. Hit me hard as I lost my Mom back in November after a very long battle with dementia. Always hard to lose a parent, no matter how old you are, but to go through all of that while trying to put on a match is difficult beyond belief. I am glad I got to meet Joe's Dad at the match, and I am sorry that I didn't have the opportunity to meet Miss Rose. They were obviously a very special couple with big hearts and she will unquestionably be missed by all. Prayers Up for Joe, Cat, Boots, and the rest of the family.
