A SAD NOTE: BLACK GOLD SHOOTOUT!!!

I’m just now getting back on both feet!!  This is, in many ways, the fault of the folks that were here for last year’s match and some of the same people who showed up for the recent Kentucky State Championship!

 

They made sure that I didn’t do anything that would damage my raggedy old foot! Now it’s healed up pretty good and my new footwear will be here in a couple of weeks!!

 

I’m throwing down the gauntlet!!  Ain’t NOBODY gonna’ have more fun than me this year at Black Gold!!

I don't have to official schedule but I do know there will be a lasagna throw down on Friday during the pot luck dinner. 

Right now it looks like Cardboard Cowboy Cowboy and Tombstone. However, we welcome all cooks and competitors out there. I have heard a lot of follks bragging on their lasagna well here is your chance to shine. Slow Jen mentioned she might be up for a cook off.

We also may be making ice cream on Friday afternoon if you have a churn and want to make a bunch of folks happy.

I saw on another thread that Widder is trying to fenegle time to make Black Gold this year!!

Holli Docaday and I will be there, it will be our first.  We were able to shuffle our normal summertime journey a bit and move it forward enough so that this will be the first stop of our vacation.

 

We shot with Ringer several times at the BP Championships down in Florida and he kept telling us we needed to come to this match.  I'm just sorry he won't be there this year, but I suspect he will be there in Spirit.

NO, DD! Black Gold doesn’t NEED  a theme, but we’ve always had some sort of general theme.  Like recently, it was “Christmas in July”.

I'm with you.  I like having a theme at the match.  I struggle to write stages, even for our monthly matches, until I get a theme set in my head.  Once I have a theme, then it all just seems to flow right out of that.

 

To me it's just part of the experience of the match, especially at a State or Above match.  I did one called "A Day In The Life" which was about all of the various things that Cowboys do herding cattle, fighting stampedes, branding calves, etc.  Usually, I do movies or western themed TV shows, but that's just me.  I remember one match that was all about Cowboy Sidekicks.

 

Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be great!

No doubt, Black Gold is probably the most relaxing and funnest places a Cowboy could be.

And indeed, I'm trying to figure out how I might make the trip and be able to stay the whole time.

 

CPRhead Joe and Klan make you realize you're at the right place and right time to enjoy life with great folks.

 

If you've ever been there, you just can't say enough good stuff about the place, people and the match.

IF SASS awarded 'stars' or 'ratings' for venues and matches, Black Gold would most certainly get ***** (5 stars)

or 'AAA'.

 

With or without me, it'll be a dandy.   Rumor has it that even Korupt Karl is gonna be there this summer.

I don’t recall if me ‘n’ Petey ever shot on a posse together!  Since I haven’t shot but four complete matches in the last six or seven years, I know we haven’t shot together lately.
