Subdeacon Joe Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 USS Vermont (BB-20) in a storm in the Atlantic Ocean in December 1913 as taken by an observer on board USS Wyoming (BB-32).
Pat Riot Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 That is a great photo. I wish I had a photo of my ship in heavy seas. There were a number of times we were in nasty waters, especially an area we called the VACAPES (Virginia Capes - pronounced vay-capes) Also in the Atlantic trying to get through or past tropical storms and hurricanes. EDIT: We never went through a hurricane.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 For frame of reference, BB-20 was 456 ft long. DDG-118 is 513 ft long.
