He should be happy they did not drop him...

Texas Lizard

I could have been worse.

He could have been dropped 100 feet over water, survived the fall, and then been gulped down by a

big mouth bass or even worse..... a Carp.

..........Widder

There was a field (huge dirt lot full of desert bushes) next to one of the rail shops I worked at in L.A. County in CA. There were lots rabbits, gophers and snakes in that field.

One day I was coming into work on 2nd shift and  2 of the security guards were standing in the roadway at the guard shack looking up into the air.
I pulled up and asked what was going on and one said “A hawk just snatched a rabbit.”

The other guard said “He dropped it.” The rabbit hit the pavement about 50’ away then the hawk swooped down, snatched it up then flew off.
Both guards told me that they see that every once in a while. Hawks killing their prey by dropping it.
I had heard that hawks would do that but I had never seen it.

It almost seemed that it dawned on the cat that he probably shouldn’t hang out in the yard with that hawk around.

Does anyone know what kind of birds those are?

Edit:

After searching hawks and eagles, I tried kites.  I think they may be white-tailed kites.

I thought they were Ospreys, but the tops of their wings aren’t dark enough.
