Orcas attacked a Polish yacht for 45 minutes, sinking it off the coast of Morocco

A group of orcas sank a 40-foot yacht after attacking it for 45 minutes in the Strait of Gibraltar, causing major damage and leakage. The crew, with assistance from the Moroccan Navy, tried to steer the vessel away but it ultimately sank near Tanger Med.

The interactions between orcas and boats in the region have been an issue since 2020, with increasing intensity each year. Scientists are still unsure of the exact reason for this behavior, but theories suggest that orcas are learning and sharing these behaviors among themselves.

Researchers have focused on a particular orca named White Gladis and her pod, who have been behind 61 percent of the attacks in the area. While the majority of these interactions involve bumping vessels without causing serious damage, there are concerns about the potential risks due to the size and strength of orcas.

Maybe the yacht is playing the wrong kind of music.

It would be funny if that was the cause.
What would be funnier is if it’s cRap Music.

Exactly; and Orcas top out at about 35 mph, and weigh 6-8 ton

The pattern of Orca attacks on ships in the area adjacent to the entry to the Med has been eerily consistent; a pod of orcas (and often the same pod family) attacks the rudder, destroying the ability of the ship to maneuver.  These suckers are smart, and there is a working theory that one pod has been teaching others how to conduct these attacks.  Somebody pissed off Mama, and she is taking revenge.  So much for the myth of a peaceful matriarchy.

If it’s a sailboat, they don’t go fast enough to outrun the orcas.

btw the idea for moby Dick came from the whale ship Essex that was sunk by whales in the 1800’s.

The pictures that I saw were of a power boat

What is the "AT SEA" equivalent of Shoot; Shovel and Shut-up?

This is what happens when you Free Willy. After years "on the inside", supposedly learning how to do tricks, they finally set him free. What the prison board didn't know was that Willy also learned criminal activities from the other killer whale inmates. The first thing he did was hook up with the various roving killer whale pods (gangs) and teach them how to get revenge on "the man".

Hardened criminal killer whales can NEVER be rehabilitated to live a normal, peaceful life, regardless of what the reformers claim.

There's a joke somewhere in there bt i just can't put my mouth on it.

The answer is six. Five circle the yacht and distract the crew with derogatory Polish jokes, while the sixth sneaks in and pulls the plug in the hull.

According to the Discovery Channel, orcas have been getting more aggressive in killing great white sharks too.  The same theory that they are teaching eachother how to kill the sharks.

Let me see if I have this correct:

Orcas are now teaching each other how to kill sharks.   Interesting.

This info must really drive the 'Big Bang' theorist crazy because if whales and sharks have been around

50 billion years or so, why did they wait till NOW to start this family education survival deal?

GO figure.
