Alpo Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 That's the group from the Egyptian Obelisk Department, in the archeology department at the local college, training for the Boston Marathon. They're going to run together. That's why they have matching t-shirts.

Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 Not mine. I bought a Colt 1911A1 at the PX on Okinawa and carried it, and I picked up an S&W Model 60 from someone going home. Had a room mate who got a Browning High Power there and knew a Chaplain who did too.

Even when I was in, ('77-'90) the average Marine would be hard pressed to have one. More senior Officers, probably.
Alpo Posted January 7, 2025 Posted January 7, 2025 I recall an article in Leatherneck magazine, back in the mid 70s. The lady said that every base housing she had ever lived in, the interior walls were one of two colors. Either white or pale green and she had discovered that THIS brand of white toothpaste and THIS brand of mint toothpaste matched the paint exactly. So when they moved into new base housing, she would put nails in the wall to hold pictures, and when they got transferred she would pull all the nails and plug the holes with toothpaste.
