I don't know. When I was in Afghanistan as a police advisor, there was a SF camp nearby. Some of those gentlemen were a bit, shall we say, not dressed in complete Army uniform. Their captain came by our training center at the same time a LTC from the Vermont National Guard was present. This colonel was a mite miffed at the captain's attire.

If you're referring to the light colored box on the right side of the fore grip of the soldier's rifle in the foreground, it's an IR laser.
