Blackwater 53393 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 That’s the way it’s listed on most menus!! The payload is between two pieces of bread, so, most likely, it qualifies as a sandwich…
Texas Lizard Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Had too many in the Air Force....Will not go near them anymore.... Texas Lizard
Alpo Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Of course it is. It's a piece of meat in between two slices of bread. It meets the original definition as invented by the Earl.

Now if you were to separate the bun into two separate pieces, THEN it would be a sandwich.

You have to take into consideration that every slice of bread was once part of a loaf! Therefore, a bun that’s split in two is just two slices of a small loaf. Just like a “sub” sandwich or a “Po Boy”!!

Until you separate the bun into two, THEN it's slices of bread. A sub has the bun sliced into two separate pieces.

Dern near every single one lately has had the dog trying to escape out the bottom where the two halves have parted company!! Same thing goes for the sub shops!! They’ll hand you the sangwidge all wrapped up in paper ‘n’ the bread is still one piece! That is ‘til ya’ take a bite or two!

Obviously you have never bought cheap store-brand hot dog buns.

That's why I spend the extra buck and get the good buns.

Yeah, me too. Store brand hamburger bun, name brand hamburger bun. No difference really. Store brand sometimes a little smaller, but still the same basic thing. But a store brand hot dog bun - and let me add this little bit from my own experience, Ball Park hot dog buns are just as crappy as store brand, but cost twice as much - the store brand bun feels crumbly and almost always comes apart at the hinge.

Try these: They stay together pretty good.
Rip Snorter Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Kings Hawaiian - when you can find them, the pretzel buns are particularly good.
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Nah. Potato Buns. Lip Smackin GOOD!! Oh, original question. Absolutely a Hot Dog is a Sammich. Unless it's onna Stick. Then it's a Hot Dog inna Blanket
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 I generally figure the hotdog is just the tube steak without the bun.
