last week i had a bit of a setback after knocking wood for years about being healthy , i suffered a bit of a heart issue [i knew it was only a matter of time] ............no worries guys it was not as bad as it might have been ,

so without doing anything out of the ordinary and not stressing about a thing that morning , my wife and i took a lunch break , i ate what was for me a fairly good lunch - leftovers from the night before stir fry , i sat and relaxed a little then went to get up and found i couldnt without dizziness , after a discussion about going to the ER we decided my wife couldnt get me there without help so called the ambulance in , seems my blood pressure was up but my heartbeat was down at or below 40 ,

after about 6 hrs in ER they checked me in and after review and overnight observation i got a pacemaker ...it keeps my heartrate above 60 , pressure is in norm now and apparently the pacemaker is doing its job , operated about 70% of the time first night and now not so much , one week checkup shows great healing and all normal ,

restrictions are lifting [less than ten lbs] and moving my arms out of a specific range [so as to not pull the electrodes out of the muscle] for the next 4 weeks , im in one already , so three more to go ,
no dietary or any other changes - still having a beer and will have a cigar next week when i feel up to resuming we guys weekly get togethers , lookin forward to that ,

in the meantime wife and i will be taking the camper to ohio for her aunts birthday [80th] this next week , leaving tomorrow back about the next sunday or so - do not be alarmed at my absence , ill check in when i get back ,

Dang sorry to hear you're feeling poorly, but awful glad you're still North of the grass line.

Don't be getting in a hissy fit if the Doc holds you down longer than planned.  We're selfish here, and want to keep ya' safe and sound for as long as we can.

Be safe.  Enjoy your trip to the fullest ya' can!:D

Good luck! You’ll be fine .My uncle had a pacemaker put in when he was 62, He had that in for 34 years when he passed away at 96! He always said that was his saving grace!

You were wise enough to make the call that you did, when you did.

Presidio said it well when he observed that, "We're selfish here, and want to keep ya' safe and sound for as long as we can"

My Dad needed a pacemaker and he steadfastly refused.
At the age of 85, he was climbing down from the roof after working on a HAM antenna, and his heart stopped.
He fell to the ground, broke his back and wound up paraplegic.

His wife would not ever let him come again.
She knew he would have stuck his 38 in his mouth and ruined her insurance policy.
She stuck him in a home, on his back, where he developed bed sores and then succumbed to The Old Man's Friend.

OP, if one has to have cardiac problems, "today" is as good as it can get for excellent care.

I'm over a year past a 4x bypass and doing exceptional.
Listen to your cardiologist advice about when you can return to shooting.
