Blackwater 53393 Posted September 12 Share Posted September 12 (edited) Can’t stand any of the “boy band” stuff that’s more choreographed for the stage and has little or no real musical value! I guess you call the female version “girl band” or some such. They don’t sing on stage, live, and in most cases the whole thing is recorded in the studio and then modified and “tooled up” to sound like something. Listen to people sing it who were way off key when sober (and think singing it louder is better). Thought the contrasts were amazing and funny. From Drunks to near professional quality singers. Often the least prepossessing were the most talented. I thought that I suffered from the same disorder from being forced to listen to country music all day every day when I was with my dad. I finally figured out that I just didn’t like most country music and what I did like was a really narrow range of well arranged and orchestrated material with none of the silly added twang and drawl that’s so prevalent today! When the new wave of what I call “Skynyrd wannabes” hit the country market, not long after the big “Southern Rock” explosion, I began to avoid country music even more!! Elvis and Buddy Holly, The Beach Boys and Jan and Dean, Chuck Berry, The Mamas and Papas, and the British wave that soon followed were better than fresh air to me. I grew up on the 70's Country music and well A ranch kid in the 80's looking to "see the world " so Rodeo and Bulls and Hot Rods turned more into Rock with a few exceptions Chris Ledoux who was in his own league . Military n 80's in SO. Cal. meant Gazzarri's , Rainbow and Whisky depending on who was playing Most of the time when I was at Pendleton was Carl's Tavern in Vista and well that at the time no one argued with us Then last year of Marines they sent me to MCAS ElToro which at the time I had zero idea how they moved a Grunt to a Air base lol but KNAC 105.5 was always on Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Karaoke and alcohol are an exceptionally bad combination. Sadly I know this from personal experience. Me and two other friends decided to sing Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' while putting our arms over each others shoulders and kicking our legs "Rockettes" style. I literally had friends falling out of chairs because they were laughing so hard. On edit: I'll note that not only can I not carry a tune, but I'm also loud.
