Pat Riot
My Mom told me that when I was an infant she could put me in a baby seat and turn on Popeye, I guess it was played every day at a certain time back in the early 60’s, and I would sit for an hour quietly watching Popeye while she got things done around the house. She claimed that Popeye was the reason I lived spinach and other vegetables.

Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103
Me dear Pappy said Popeye is why he favored spinach. I hated the stuff. Wasn't until I was a man grown that I discovered spinach isn't grown in cans. Love raw spinach!

As I recall, from time to time there would be a Superman cartoon; sometimes, he would have a quick shot of Superman himself (a real person) standing behind a screen, where he'd change back into Clark Kent. That fella happened to be our next-door neighbor*. Between that and my Uncle Joe driving the ice cream truck life was good. We lived in La Puente. I do believe that town has changed substantially since 1956.
