Subdeacon Joe Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Candelaria, Nevada was the location of rich silver mines, but water was so difficult to obtain here that in the earliest days a bath cost two dollars, and liquor sellers found it unprofitable to "water their stock." J-BAR #18287 Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Candelaria... The only time I remember hearing that name was in "The Highwaymen", which is one of my favorites (watched it maybe 10 times), but Woody's story, while moving, is not historically correct: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSOZ5pr6sos&pp=ygUVY2FuZGVsYXJpYSBoaWdod2F5bWVu
Wallaby Damned Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Went to the firmer town site back in the late 80’s with my Dad. Local mining operation makes that impossible now but I think a few buildings still exist.
