Mild Bill #2326
I was asked a question I cannot answer. Does the sleeve for the Winchester 1866 Commemorative - without box - have any value, and how could it be shipped to protect it from damage? Thank you.. Happy Appy
Bill the box is really good for someone that wants the guns to hand down as the value is something that adds to the value. I have seen people offer pretty good sum for just the box.
Nimble Fingers SASS# 25439
Depending on which one it could be between $50-$100 dollars, I would get a sheet of thick corrugated and sandwich the cover with Fragile do not bend or make a box for it. I found a John Wayne commutative complete box and cover for a little under a $120 but that was over 10 years ago. Check EBay as they are sometimes there and u can check out the bidding.
Sedalia Dave
Sandwich it between 2 pieces of cardboard. Then add a thin plywood backer to one side to prevent bending.
T.K.
I purchased a commemorative Winchester 1895 a few years back When it arrived at the local gun store, I went to view it and do the final paperwork. Sometime between then and when I picked it up, someone had wrapped packing tape all over the box! Really chapped my hide! They say you can remove it with a hairdryer and some solvent to remove the sticky stuff. Rrrr-gggg. 1
Wild Willi
The sleeve is only of value if you have the box. I believe if you were a Winchester collector and had the box you likely have the sleeve but some get damaged and if yours is pristine that would be a plus. I would put it for sale on gunbroker don’t expect it to sell first time through if you put a healthy number on it

I would suggest EBay as well as I have found a lot on that site, sleeve, styrofoam container, paperwork. Just a suggestion.
Wild Willi
I don’t have any framed sleeves but I like the idea. I believe if it were mine that is what I would do frame it then sell it. It will protect it and make it more valuable I think plexiglass instead of glass. I think then it would bring some dollars Edited August 24 by Wild Willi
