My own opinion is that they’re like elephants!!  They’re nice to look at, but I REALLY don’t want to own or ride one.

That first Shovelhead must have had an old Linkert carb.  Notice before he started it, he used the old “Tickler” to richen the carb.

The Panhead was sweet, but it didn’t look like it had the original style crank cases.

I’ve ridden bikes like those and they’re awkward and uncomfortable to me.

Same here. They are cool to look at though. I wouldn’t mind riding one on a closed roadway or race track once. Once!

Marvels of design and construction. But they seem more art than practical.

What am I missing?

Buddies helping a buddy.  Helping him remember 1. Not to drink too much. 2. Not to do dumb $#!¥ on your bike when you’re drunk (split rear tire).3. Just to mess with him.

Thanks.   I couldn't decide if it was prank, revenge, or college art project.

WOW!

The thing that stood out for me was what didn’t stand out. The oncoming motorcycle’s headlight. I couldn’t enlarge the image / video on my iPhone as I don’t have a FB account, but I was surprised I was able to rewatch the video several times. I barely saw that motorcycle’s headlight. I saw no indication the rider braked or made any attempt to avoid the two bikes making the left. I think there were 3 people at fault. All 3 motorcyclists. Luckily no one was injured.

3 times I have had bikes pull left turns in front of me. The first time it was a dude on a crotch rocket that I’m pretty sure was showing off for some girls in the crosswalk.

The 2nd was just like the video. 2 casual riders hooked a left in front of me to make a halfassed U-turn to go to a gas station for fuel. I made a U-bop and rode back and gave them a piece of my mind.
The last one was 3 “Bikers”. Leather vests, colors and all. I caught up to them and raised hell and to my surprise, they apologized.

I’m a big believer in lights. In the day I have a low beam, a high beam and 2 LED “fog” lights, as Kawasaki calls them - they’re more like really bright flood lights. I have them adjusted high. Not for fog, but for lighting and for other drivers to see. They are on at night too. I am thinking of adding 2 more amber fog lights.

WOW is right. My Android phone let me enlarge it. The incoming bike seemed lost in the background til about 100 feet away! Amazing he made it between the 2 turning bikes. Bettin he was blocked by the car when the turning bikes executed and committed the turn. WOW

I had to watch it full screen on my phone to see the oncoming motorcycle.  I don't think he had his headlight on and what we are seeing is a reflection of the oncoming headlights.  Dark clothes, too.

I didn't know Harley made an electric.

Yep! My son-in-law test rode one. He really liked the bike, but not the price. I think they’re called “Live Wires”.

I considered an electric Yamaha for a really short while. The cost was a factor but what turned me off were the 2 guys that had bad experiences with them. Those bikes shut completely down if there is any malfunction.
Guy 1 - stranded 60 miles from home then 50 miles from home. The problem - moisture in a power port.
Guy 2 - stranded in east Oregon, 250 miles from home and a Yamaha dealer authorized to work on them.

That was in 2017. They may have worked out issues since then.

There are 3 models of Livewire now.  It'll ride the speed limiter in the 1/4 at 11.15 seconds. That is quicker than a Vrod, Vulcan 2000, M109, edging on 600 crotch rocket times.

The counterpoint is highway cruising will drain the battery in 70 miles.

I recall the guys at Easyriders magazine saying “a Harley goes ‘potato, potato, potato’ when idling.”
