The Single Shot Shotgun as an option for shooting Cowboy action.

I occasionally use a single shot - it's quite a challenge to reload in time on aerial targets. I've got a couple with 36" barrels that are great for Cowboy Trap/Cowboy Clays side matches. 

 

This one was modified somewhere along the years to launch... something...? Folks have told me it was a line gun, grenade launcher, or even a homemade tennis ball or dummy launcher for dog training. Who knows. Sometimes they let me slip by with it and sometimes they don't. The bell is permanently attached, and gives the barrel a legal length of just over 18". Ya gotta hold high, because if you sight over the muzzle, you're going to shoot under the target.

Is it as fast as a top shooter with a 97 or sxs, no.  Can you have fun and shoot fast, yes.  I've won overall on several annuals and a bunch of monthlies shooting a single shot.   It's a lot of fun and a challenge to boot. With practice you can shoot around a second per shot or better.

Boston I gotta say I am envious of that wide-open space you share in your video. Every rhombus of grass in my city is becoming either three-story apartments or town homes, there is no such thing as a vacant lot or unoccupied space of land save for golf courses. The city is an absolute eyesore and the extra traffic cause the roads to become pitted like the surface of Mars with enormous potholes and chunks of asphalt everywhere. I miss looking out the window and seeing all the beautiful nothing that used to be called outside.

Looks like the perfect kind of gun to hunt wascally wabbits with.

Played with my H&R single shot w/ejector.  Shot brass shot shells with a "square load" of Goex 2F.  The gun "froze" after 7 rounds, wouldn't open.  Had to let cool for about 15 min before could use again.  Anyone experience same problem.  Had similar issue with my hammered double barrel, but after more shots.
