Here's an odd coupling. Randy Newman and Mark Knopfler. I first saw Randy Newman by accident at the Cincinnati Zoo in 1985 or 86. My ex and I were visiting the zoo and walked into the open area concert venue. There were a couple of people sitting around and as we walked through, a couple of them said were should stay to see Randy Newman. I said Randy Newman - Short People Randy, they said yeah. We stayed and watched his show about 20' from him, he was all by himself and his piano. I'd never heard any of his other songs, so I thought, except Short People. The show was great! His interaction between the few people that were there, including my ex and me, was interesting to say the least. He has written so much music that others have made famous, it's astounding. I became a Randy Newman fan that day. 1 Quote
