Ain’t nothing like the real thing baby… 😜

I don’t think this is what Calamity Kris had in mind, BUT!

@Blackwater 53393  I expected this thread to take on a life of it's own.  It has.  As long as we keep it civil and clean, I'm good.

Please, back to page 1.  Just returned from a magical trip with family to Boston to see Grandson #2 (Peter Sumner cello on u-tube) awarded a Master of Music degree via Berklee College of Music's Global Jazz Institute, complete with being granted the Matt Marvuglio Outstanding Student award.  If you are jazz-oriented, you can access their Masters' Commencement Concert via berkleeboston/albums.  There were four ensembles; the first two presenting (amber & silver) were a bit "out there" for my baroque taste.....  The first 3 ensembles presented 2 numbers; the fourth (Peter's, of course) presented 3, ending with his composition, Citizens United, to shut the house down.  AND, the next day after the degree presentations, before we left the reception, Peter got a phone call with the offer of a 3-month tour - a REAL JOB OFFER!  Are we proud?  Just a little bit.

Thanks, Tommy.  You know, I had always assumed these kids picked their own groups.  Wrong.  Berklee assigned them without a lot of warning (about 2 weeks) and the kids were expected to adapt and perform.   And they totally did.

You know the best part?  The person presenting the outstanding student award said some nice things about the recipient & then when he said 'talented cellist from NC' we (family) knew and so did the room - it went ballistic.  So good to know his peers appreciate him as much as we do.

You know the very best part?  He looks so happy when he plays with these people.

Okay, I'm an old softy, and this has been working on me for some time.

This is what was on the memory stick the Sheriff handed his Chief Deputy.

Yes there's a story behind the story but it involves family so 'nuff said.
