I was not and still am not a fan of Tom Jones' early work from the 1970's.  I'm also not one for gospel music and "spirituals".   But I'm a big fan of Tom Jones' Praise and Blame which is full of gospel and other "spirituals" as well as the follow up album Spirit in the Room.

Below is a cover of John Lee Hooker's Burning Hell with just drums and single guitar backing Tom

Some Johnny Cash, I think this comes closer to folk music, rather than country music.

The greatest female act in Rock ‘N’ Roll! Doing a truly mellow number!

When Deputy Angela Keller rode out to the high school on horseback patrol, she was recruited by the vocal instructor, as Angela speaks (and sings) French.

This is why she was recruited.

I sang that song in high school in vocal music class!!

It was one of my instructor’s favorites!  Our choral music ensemble toured briefly in the southeast and sang at the White House while he was the director!

OUTSTANDING!!!

I can only imagine how that must have sounded, from your participatory vantage!

My best friend (rest his soul) was a fine low tenor, perfect pitch ... he told me once there is no surround sound like standing in the middle of a hundred-voice chorus!

I remembered hearing this one.

When I wrote it being sung as part of an historical presentation, I just had to listen go it again.
