Michigan Slim
The farmers I grew up around would have pulled up enough bone for their plow to clear and thrown it in a fence row out of the way.

Makes you wonder how many times that’s happened. I recall that guy in Kaleepornia years ago that reported a kangaroo rat on his property and ended up losing his rearend after the government forbade him from doing any more work on his own property. Those rats are endangered. A friend of mine showed me a great shooting area out in the desert. One day his kid spotted one of these endangered rats, or at least he thought it was. We all agreed he saw nothing.

Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
If that mammoth is unique to Michigan it should go to a museum. Otherwise there is no reason to preserve it. Mammoth bones and tusks were being mined from Siberia at the rate of 100 tonnes a year until China banned ivory imports. You can buy mammoth ivory online if your state allows it. Some is as good as elephant ivory. Yeah, I don’t believe the China ivory ban is more than a wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
