Frontier Lone Rider
I just purchased another Ruger Vaquero in 44-40. It has under sized Cylinder Throats. I bought a Manson Reamer from Brownell's with the additional five Cylinder Throat Pilot Bushings. The smallest pilot bushing has a diameter of .4270 inch and that is way too large to even start in this new cylinder. I have checked with Manson and they don't sell any of the smaller sizes. I have searched the internet for the smaller diameters but have not found any yet. Does anyone know where I can purchase these? I have a friend that has loaned me his set in the past, but I don't want to continue to beg from him. Frontier Lone Rider

The Original Lumpy Gritz
Drive a lead bullet through the throat. Measure it using a micrometer that reads in .0001. Have the bushing machined to .0005 smaller than what the bullet reads after being pushed through the throat. Frontier Lone Rider
I just decided to send the cylinder to Ruger for their service. I prefer to do these operations myself, but just don't have the correct tools.

You need to rethink that, when it comes to blindly shipping parts to the gun maker. Pretty sure Ruger wants the whole gun because you will most likely end up with a new cylinder. When I went through this with Ruger in October 2022, they said they no longer made these cylinders, so they had none to sell. They said if I ruined a cylinder, there were no replacements. Ruger sent me an email telling me to only send them the cylinder.

JB Sledge I didn't want to abuse your friendship and thought I would try to handle this by myself. I do appreciate the offer. This should be the last Vaquero in 44-40 that I will be purchasing as I now have enough to shoot the Charity Josey Wales Match at TUSCO in November. The last one was a 7 1/2" which will be used as the shotgun. I hope to see you and your lovely wife again at Logan's Ferry. I will be competing at Guns of August this weekend with several of the regular shooters from Logan's Ferry.
