Can I change a .36cal to a .44cal or .45cal ?

Recommended Posts

I have a .36cal Pietta 1851 cap n ball made in the 90s.  I have a .45 cal kirst conversion loading gate and cylinder.  Can the loading gate and cylinder be fit to the .36cal 1851 and a .44cal barrel be added and shoot .45 lc or .45 cowboy or others?  Thank you Bullett

A 44 Caliber gun has a step in the water table to accomodate the extra diameter of a 44 Cylinder.

That yer .36 cal gun don't have.  BUT... because, we know you want to, it's ok to go out & buy a 44 gun to convert.
