You got that right! I was in a repair shop in Mattawa when a car was brought in that had hit a moose. Both front seat passengers were killed outright while the couple in the rear seat were critical and airlifted to Ottawa. When you hit a moose with a car, you take the legs out, the body comes over the hood, through the windshield and into the front seat, usually still alive and thrashing. 4 1 Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 Witnessed it once on a pole break call-out at 2am. Passenger survived, but watched her boyfriend driver succumb after the moose came thru the windshield. Not good to hit a moose. Can't see em at night. 4 Quote

Most pronounced IN Toronto, I believe. PF I have to learn how to read I suppose. I read that as "most pronounced IT Toronto", and I'm sitting there wondering why anyone would pronounce "boot" TORONTO??? Yeah, "IN Toronto" does make a whole lot more sense. Quote

I wonder how many Americans know the name of the Canadian national anthem? I think it is O Canada, but I wouldn't swear to it. And I have no idea how it goes. I know about 2/3 of the British national anthem, the first two lines of the French (in English) and the first two lines of the German. Don't know anything of any other. Actually if I tried to sing the British anthem I would screw it up because I would sing "God save the Queen". Not used to there being a king yet. 2 1 Quote

Alpo Posted March 12 Posted March 12 A high school teacher was arrested today at Toronto's Pearson Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator. At a press conference, Premier Kathleen Wynne said she believes the man is a member of the notorious extremist Al-Gebra movement. She did not identify the man, who has been charged by the OPP with carrying weapons of maths instruction. 'Al-Gebra is a problem for us', the Premier said. 'They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values.' They use secret code names like "X" and "Y" and refer to themselves as "unknowns"; but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, "There are three sides to every triangle." When asked to comment on the arrest, Prime Minister Trudeau said, "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of maths instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes." Fellow Liberal colleagues told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by any Prime Minister 1 4 Quote

Sedalia Dave Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Wonder how many other provinces will follow. Alberta just collected enough signatures to vote on SECEDING FROM CANADA 2 1 Quote
Alpo Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Would that Canadian reputation for niceness, if Alberta secedes, with the rest of the country just let them go? Unlike Lincoln, would not go to war to prevent them from leaving? 1 Quote
DeaconKC Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I've been following this for several months. Alberta is doing it all by the Canadian Constitution. And they are not alone, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Manitoba and Yukon may all follow as well. 2 1 Quote

Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 (edited) Much of the wealth of the producing provinces is taxed away, to distribute to the have-not provinces, with little benefit, assistance or acknowledgement to the producers of the largess in all areas. The "tools" for separation were enacted to placate the sovereigntist sentiments of portions of the Province of Quebec. These "tools" may now be what breaks the country.
