Time for another hypothetical question

This one comes from both a television episode, and an online novel.

You have an out-of-state boarding school. It is spring break, and the 16-year-old 11th grade girl goes 300 miles home to spend two weeks with her family. She wakes up one night, about 1:00 in the morning, to find somebody in her bedroom. It is a 17-year-old 12th grade boy who followed her.

First hypothetical question - what do you suppose the school would do?

Second hypothetical question - the boy is the captain of the football team. Do you suppose that would make a difference in what the school would do?

Third hypothetical question. First a little backstory.

9th grader Kelly, 10th grader Graham, and 11th grader Randy. Graham and Kelly are walking down the street when here comes Randy and three of his thug buddies. They stop and announce their intention of raping Kelly. Graham tells Kelly to run while he prepares to sell his life dearly. Kelly runs to a nearby house, bangs on the door, they let her in, and she calls the cops. The four thugs get arrested, Graham goes to the hospital.

Randy's parents are rich. Both the judge and the DA are running for reelection, and we all know how expensive political campaigns are. After all, Kelly did not get raped, and we wouldn't want to ruin these boys lives. They're only 17. The four thugs were charged with disturbing the peace, plead guilty and were fined $100 each. Graham spent 2 weeks in the hospital and several months in rehab, with a $50,000 medical bill.

The principal expelled the four thugs.

Next year, Graham is an 11th grader. On the football team. Their crosstown rivals - the captain/quarterback/star is Randy. The team manager goes to the coach and explains that Randy cannot play for the other school. Randy was expelled. He cannot go to any school in the district. The coach says he will take care of it, and he goes to see the principal. The principal agrees that Randy cannot go to that school, and goes to the school board. They tell her that she could not have expelled Randy because she did not have the authority. The "alleged incident" did not take place on school grounds, did not take place during school hours, nor did it take place at a school function.

Returning to the third hypothetical question. Even if the boarding school wanted to do something about the burglar/potential rapist, could they, since this did not take place on school grounds or during school hours or at a school function?

What y'all think?

What do the girl's parents do when they hear her screaming?  If the guy is actually attacking her, and I were the father, he'd probably have a lot of air passing through his cranium, most likely from ear to ear! Of course it would depend on the state laws about defending against any intruder, but if there was a make-my-day law in effect, it wouldn't matter how rich the perp's parents were.  Of course, in this day and age, one never knows!
