I think she realized just how far towards totalitarianism her party was going and took a hard look at it.  She left the Party (upper case P intentional) last October

In defense of her, she would never have got elected to congress in Hawaii if she was pro gun. I’d like to hear someone on Fox News, which she has been appearing on lately, ask her about her stance on gun control. I’m just not sure I trust her yet!

I'm not sure there is a single politician that I trust!

 

That said, she is trying hard to position herself as the moderate Republican Vice Presidential candidate to the more extreme Republican Nominee for President. It might be a good strategy; she has a lot of potential but alas it is only potential.

I like what she says, but I also remember what she did and how she voted.  I'm keeping an open mind about her. Anybody can talk the talk, but as a Congressman, she didn't walk the walk,

Her "Anti" statements were when she was a Democrat.  Remember, the party is a machine ~ all elected members of that party follow the directions of the party bosses, not their constituents who elected them.  Heck... even Reagan and Trump were Democrats at one time, 'til they came to their senses!
