Saddle Ring + F4-Tape

Recommended Posts

New 1873 Marshal IT 44m with saddle ring, didn't really care for the metal-on-metal clanking - tried to remove mount but it was frozen in there. Didn't want to risk damaging new gun - so tried a leather wrap, but leather is to thick to allow ring to fit through.  Grrrr, then I remembered I had some F4-Tape (no "adhesive", a unique Self-Fusing Silicone).  Cut a 10 strip in half an started wrapping - turned out nice with a black leather look. Nice thing with this stuff is don't have to tie ends - it fuses together permanently, lots of uses...

Well, that's one way to do it, and looks just fine.  They are usually staged left side down (unless you're a lefty) so nobody is going to notice it anyway.   I like saddle rings, sound doesn't bother me, but it does for some others.

FYI...

All references to "wrap" in the SHB specify "leather or other natural material".

The material mentioned in the OP does not fall under any allowed modification.
