Dantankerous
I've seen some pretty nice bead blasted finished Rugers lately. Got me to wondering as I've never once pondered this... Is a stainless gun the only candidate for bead blasting or can it be done to an originally factory blued or color case Ruger (with the same result)? Yul Lose
Bead blasting will take the bluing and color case hardening off.

Rugers' are faux case hardened. Some gun cleaning chemicals will remove it. If you bead blast the faux case hardening you would remove the finish that prevents corrosion. If you were to bead blast a blued gun it would remove the corrosion protection that the bluing provides.
Doc Fill 'Em 67797
You can bead blast a blued gun, then have it reblued and it will have a matte finish.
SGT. ELI 35882 GUNFIGHTER
You can bead blast for satin finish, then spray a flat or satin clear Gunkote or Cerakote finish for protection.
