It's a blisteringly hot February here and the snakes are out in force. Don't mind them when they're out on the grass keeping the rats and rabbits down but it's another story when they decide to have a sleep on the wife's pantry goods. Son and daughter law got it into a pillow case and relocated it safely and totally unharmed further out into the bush. Lucky it didn't go into the gun cart and hide!

Yep a python, they will bite but not venomous. We had one a few weeks ago that was about 10 feet long and there were two very distinct 'rabbit lumps' in it with about 18" between the lumps.

One thing about snakes, they can put some excitement into your day.

That’s a nice sized snake. As a kid I loved catching snakes. My family did not love that I had a penchant for catching snakes. Especially my Dad. He was petrified of them. I had some fun with that. Fun that got a sore butt and a few missed dinners.

Glad you got the snake out and no one was harmed, including the snake.

One thing I have told my wife a number of times. If you see a snake just remember that some other creature that you don’t like may not be around because the snake ate or scared it off, like mice, rats, etc. She doesn’t get my logic on this issue.

A gun for snakes..... a gun for mice and rats........ a gun for other unwanted creatures that cross my path.   I keep it simple.

By the way, when I saw the title of this thread I was expecting a new addition to the Colt revolver line.

You are not the only one.   I also thought it was about a new pistol from Colt.

Well, that's the last time I complain about shooing a raccoon or random bat out of my garage.

I also was expecting a neat Colt double action. However, I am not leaving disappointed, per se.

I haven't seen a snake in a couple of years. Knock on wood. I think turkeys and hawks have whipped them out. We did have a big black snake in our out buildings. It only caused a fright now and then. When I was a kid, rattlesnake and copper head were a daily occurrence. A couple of years ago we heard a loud bump on the porch roof. Then a thud in the yard. Two big black snake came out of an eave vent and fell on roof then on ground. They were trophy 3size whoppers. I fixed the vent cover and never saw them again.

I am not afraid of snakes even though I have come close enough to rattlesnakes to be bitten a couple of times.  I've only killed two when they were in a location where they could encounter pets or young kids.

From watching animal programs my impression of Australia is there are a lot of  deadly venomous creatures that roam there.
