DocWard
I am by no means an aficionado of dance. I was among the more challenged in getting it right in show ensemble in high school, took a ballroom dance course with Mrs. Doc in college, and used to be able to fumble my way through a foxtrot or two-step. A ballroom dance video will pop up on my YouTube feed once in awhile and I will watch it though, and that is a first for me. I had to go looking. From my brief search, it seems "shag" or "collegiate shag" is usually very uptempo. Since this was at a competition, I'm assuming it qualifies under their rules though, so I will have to peek down the rabbit hole a little and see what I can figure out. Blackwater 53393
That was great! I remember girls in skirts and guys wearing jeans or chinos when I was a little kid! Shag always facinated me since I never had the rhythm or coordination to even do a simple waltz, much less something so graceful!!

sassnetguy50
They called it Carolina Shag here. Maybe because they lady who showed us was from South Carolina. There is a late 80s movie Shag or The Shag. A National Lampoons meets Dirty Dancing style comedy set in the early 60s to the plot of a girls trip.
