Who would you use to install a new blank on Marlin 94?

Hey MG.

For me, I have a friend who would do it but he don't advertise and only does this type work for some friends locally.

BUT..... I also wouldn't hesitate to call Snake Oil George.  He's as good as there is.

..........Widder

I just picked a local gunsmith, who'd been in business a reasonable amount of time that wasn't older than me... Reasonable length of time... 25+ years.  Look at his BBB rating... and whether he'd been sued recently.  Don't be afraid to ask for references... although he'll probably only tell you about his "good" customers!

How about calling Ruger.

When Remington had Marlin I sent one in for a 44 barrel.

Per the new Marlin website, they no longer support Marlin firearms sold before Ruger acquired them.

It is my understanding that rebarreling a Marlin is a lot more difficult than other lever guns. There is a lot more to it than just aligning the sights, reaming the chamber and cutting the extractor notch,

Next time I get to talk to my machinist/gunsmith buddy I'll get the details.

I know because I asked him about rebarreling one of mine and he declined.

Relineing is a lot more possible if it's a cowboy hex barrel.

The liners won't support the rim thickness for .256. Win.

I did find a quality octagon barrel, blank at $350.

What are the problems with rebarreling a Marlin over a Model 94?

There shouldn't be. But he's looking for someone to take a blank and machine it to shape, the way I understand it.  One barrel to another finished barrel would be easy enough. Just hold my beer.

I had Boomstick Arms cut a new 32-40 chamber in an octagon bull barrel on a modified Ruger #1. I was happy with his work.
