On a personal note I came from a town in Austria only a few miles from Markl his holiness’ birth place in Bavaria. His nephew was my aunt and uncle’s priest. My sister stayed in the same room at the gasthaus which he would use when visiting. I once meet a Monsignor who was the vaticans rep to the PRC. I told him how my sister and the pope shared a bed. He promised to relate the story to the pope at their next meeting. In addition to this my great great great uncle is Saint Konrad of Parzham another nearby town in Bavaria. Too bad I am Lutheran.
