The term 'Assault weapon' has been extended to include an amazing array of guns. And parts and even ammo. An aggressive state attorney and an unsympatric judge just might convict almost anyone of a FELONY. And once that is on your record.....good luck. The male had previous convictions, a weapons' ban and was on bail, then failed to appear in spite of facing a number of weapons' charges and a ban of firearms ownership. Here in Canada, it almost seems like those supporting total civilian disarmament, are letting the dangerous ones out, hoping they do something heinous to support the disarmament agenda. (30) "Semiautomatic assault rifle" means any rifle which utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round, and which requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge. Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted December 31, 2022 Share Posted December 31, 2022 Sedalia Dave points out that the Washington statute (which was passed by voters an an initiative) classifies all semi-auto rifles as semi-auto assault rifles. This places them in a category that requires a 'training requirement" to purchase and a 10-day waiting period to pick up. The statute has been in effect for 2-3 years. The proponents of the definition, which is obviously overbroad, was to avoid past attempts to define such rifles based up criteria which could be circumvented by manufacturers, as was the case under the Federal assault weapons ban.
